Hidden Truths and Spiritual Knowledge In the Tarot

The tarot is not really a deck of cards at all but a book that can be read in many different ways. It is a book of life that reflects the events that shape us and make us who we are. It is a book that can tell us of things to come and help us prepare for them. It is a Book of life that reminds us that we are all similar and yet we are also all different and unique at the same time.  Mostly, the tarot gives teaches us universal spiritual truths and even secrets that can help see the world in a more spiritual and magical way.

One of the ways that I approach tarot readings is that I seek for the spiritual wisdom behind the cards that can bless the life of the person I am reading for. There are so hidden truths within the cards and it is an exciting quest to find them. In this brief article I will look at just a few of the hidden truths in just one of the cards and give some personal insight as to why these symbols are important.

One of my favorite spiritual truths of the tarot is the importance of the Quaballah and how it can teach us our place in the universe. The Quaballah’s influence is all through out the tarot. If you take a look at the High Priestess Card and carefully examine the veil you will notice something remarkable:

The High Priestess

For those of you familiar with the Quaballah you will notice the top part of the Tree of Life showing. The High Priestess is a card that reminds us that their are spiritual mysteries and that She is the guardian of those mysteries. It reminds us, because of the half hidden Tree of Life, that we are connected to this mystery and that we are part of the Tree of Life. The Tree of Life is representation of where we are on the earth and how far we need to go to return to God. This Tree is a journey and it being on The High Priestess reminds us that the learning of spiritual knowledge is part of what gives meaning and substance to life.

Also, if you peek behind the High Priestess card you will see that their is no temple behind the pillars. This is not a temple made by the hands of humans but by God because if you look carefully you will see a water. Water in the tarot should bring to mind spirituality and on this card, a very spiritual card, water is the main symbol. If you look at her robes you will see a moon at her feet and her robe turning into water around the moon. The moon is a very feminine symbol and it represents the changing of the tides and feminine cycles. The fact that her robe is turning into water is a very strong reminder of the importance of spirituality in our life and that we are connected to the very spirituality we need to live lives of joy and happiness.

Please remember that this temple is not a stone edifice made by the hands of workers. It is a temple that is part of nature and nature is something that God made. When Moses went to MT. Sinai to talk with God that was a temple. When Christ gave his Sermon on the Mount the spot was sacred and therefore a temple. When Buddah received his wisdom he received out in nature. When the divine needs to talk with humankind he often picks locations that are part of the sacred environment that he created. This great truth reminds us that we never have to go far to communicate to God.

I look forward to comments about this below and hear of hidden truths that you have discovered in the tarot.
